Trump Evolves on Climate Change after Meeting Pope. Jesuit Jerry Brown said, “Don’t Underestimate the Power of the Holy Father.”

May 28, 2017

It is not an uncommon occurrence for politicians to run for office on a particular platform, but then flip-flop their positions as it is convenient for them to either gain or retain their popularity and position. This is one of the main reasons that people generally do not trust politicians.  It has just been over 100 days since Donald Trump has been sworn in as President of the United States, and already a key issue that he has been quite vocal about and strongly opposed to, he has now changed positions and has used the phrase, that he is evolving as it relates to the issue.  A Fox News headline confirms: “Trump 'evolving' on climate action, pressured by Europeans.”[1] The article relates the following: “Forceful face-to-face talks this week with fellow world leaders left President Donald Trump ‘more knowledgeable’ and with ‘evolving’ views about the global climate accord he's threatened to abandon, a top White House official said Friday. Trump also was impressed by their arguments about how crucial U.S. leadership is in supporting international efforts. The president's new apparent openness to staying in the landmark Paris climate pact came amid a determined pressure campaign by European leaders.”[2]

Interestingly, this “evolution” also comes on the heels of Donald Trump’s highly anticipated meeting with Pope Francis, in which he received a signed copy of Pope Francis’ encyclical on climate change among other writings regarding the same, which Mr. Trump assured Pope Francis that he would read. Pope Francis regards climate change as a moral crisis which means his solution would also be a “moral” one.  And one of his proposed solutions for combating climate change is the enforcement of a “moral” law making Sunday observance mandatory.  By government leaders signing on to the Pope’s climate change agenda and initiatives, they are agreeing to the authority of the Roman Catholic Church to influence the government to enforce her decrees and sustain her institutions. We are told that Sunday observance will be enacted on the premise of combating calamitous occurrences. “It will be declared that men are offending God by the violation of the Sunday sabbath; that this sin has brought calamities which will not cease until Sunday observance shall be strictly enforced.”[3]

Climate change has become an issue very near and dear to Roman Catholics, particularly Jesuits; of whom Pope Francis is a member and whose stated aim it is to overthrow Protestantism and reestablish Papal Supremacy (see The Great Controversy page 234). Now that Mr. Trump’s wife has come out as a Roman Catholic and had her rosary beads blessed by the Pope, one can expect even greater pressure on Trump. It should be understood that any global issue that Jesuits can capitalize on or exploit to gain their objective, they aggressively advocate for, not only in the ears of world leaders but also to the common people so that they can clamor for political action to be taken. Someone who well knows this and also has a projection regarding Donald Trump and his stance regarding climate change, as well as the power of the Pope is the Jesuit-educated/indoctrinated governor of California, Jerry Brown, who says “Trump will come around on climate change.”[4]  The context of Brown’s statement was in relation to the meeting between Donald Trump and the Pope. “California Gov. Jerry Brown…said Wednesday he now believes that President Donald Trump is a political ‘realist’ who will likely listen to what Pope Francis, China and other world leaders are saying on the key issue.” Consider Brown’s next words, “‘Don’t underestimate the power of the Holy Father.’” [5]

Back to the subject of evolution as it relates to politicians abruptly reversing their previous sentiments and policies on particular issues.  It must be remembered that former U.S. President Barack Obama at one time opposed same-sex unions and stated his disagreement in no uncertain terms; yet when it was politically advantageous for his reelection bid for him to come out in full support of same-sex unions, he did just that, citing that his thinking has evolved on the issue.  Shortly thereafter, his evolution of thought led to the legalization of gay marriage, June 26, 2014.[6]

Any logical, thinking person, should be able to connect the dots from Obama’s evolution and project where Donald Trump’s evolution on climate change is tending— the legalization of “moral” measures to combat climate change, which inevitably will mean the restriction of both civil and religious liberties—an utter repudiation of the principles of the constitution.  If perchance Trump’s evolution on climate change does not fully persuade him to personally change his mind, the people’s persistent cries will cause him to go along for popularity’s sake. “The dignitaries of church and state will unite to bribe, persuade, or compel all classes to honor the Sunday. The lack of divine authority will be supplied by oppressive enactments. Political corruption is destroying love of justice and regard for truth; and even in free America, rulers and legislators, in order to secure public favor, will yield to the popular demand for a law enforcing Sunday observance. Liberty of conscience, which has cost so great a sacrifice, will no longer be respected. In the soon-coming conflict we shall see exemplified the prophet's words: ‘The dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.’ Revelation 12:17.”[7]
