WHAT'S TRENDING

To DIE for!

Starbuck’s recently released its limited-edition Unicorn Frappuccino Blended Creme. This unicorn Frappuccino is only available from April 19th-23rd and is described as starting off, "sweet and fruity transforming to pleasantly sour." You can swirl it "to reveal a color-changing spectacle of purple and pink. And that pink and blue dust on the whipped cream? Starbucks says those are "fairy powders." [1]

Have I tasted it? NO! Will I taste it, NO! Here’s a list of the drink’s contents, as I would not dare term this list, “Nutrition Facts,” as there is not one thing nutritional about it- well, maybe the turmeric.

As you can see in one 16oz cup of this unicorn drink, one will consume a total of 59 grams of sugar, not to mention the fat, carbohydrate and sodium levels. 59 grams!- let’s make this practical, not to mention the FDA’s recommended added sugar daily allowance of  50 grams for the day!  Drinking this drink means consuming:

  • 1 ½ 12-ounce can of Coca Cola

  • 3 ½ twinkies

  • 2 ½ Hershey’s chocolate bars

  • 3 snicker bars

  • 2 16- ounce cans of the Monster Energy drink

As I read through this nauseating list of ingredients and tried to find the reason, the purpose of making such a drink, it is apparent that the enemy is back in the laboratory.

Although governments, agencies, companies, associations may not be intimately involved in the details of each other’s operations, a lack of commitment to God’s standards, including health, is by default a commitment to the enemy- and he will put you to work! With all that is happening in the world today, possibly nearing a WWIII,  it is no coincidence that this drink is available for only for a limited time- it has its work to do.

There is major dialogue surrounding this new drink and although many are aware of its harmful effects, they wouldn’t dare drink it; they are only curious to have just one taste. Likewise, Eve was also curious and had just one bite.

Sugar’s effects on the brain is the same as cocaine. It blunts the senses and emotions, debilitates the brain and numbs the frontal lobe. Sugar also,

  • Creates a vicious cycle of intense cravings

  • It impairs memory and learning skills

  • It causes depression and anxiety

  • It is a risk factor for age-related cognitive decline and dementia [3]

“What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.” 1 Cor. 6:19-20 KJV

Instead of sugar,

“…Eat honey, because it is good; and the honeycomb, which is sweet to thy taste…” Proverbs 24:13 KJV

“Sugar triggers the natural reward system in the brain called dopamine. As dopamine is released it induces an euphoric feeling. Overtime, one can become addicted to sugar in order to maintain a sugar rush. Likewise, sugar is similar to cocaine and the effects it has on the mind.” [4]

“The brain is the organ and instrument of the mind, and controls the whole body. In order for the other parts of the system to be healthy the brain must be healthy. And in order for the brain to be healthy the blood must be pure. If by correct habits of eating and drinking the blood is kept pure, the brain will be properly nourished.” [5]

“Indulgence of appetite is the greatest cause of physical and mental debility and lies at the foundation of the feebleness which is apparent everywhere.” [6]

“Through appetite Satan controls the mind and the whole being. Thousands who might have lived have passed into the grave, physical, mental, and moral wrecks, because they sacrificed all their powers to the indulgence of appetite.” [7]

“God desires us, by strict temperance, to keep the mind clear and keen that we may be able to distinguish between the sacred and the common. We should strive to understand the wonderful science of the matchless compassion and benevolence of God. Those who eat too largely and those who eat unhealthful food bring trouble upon themselves, unfitting themselves for the service of God.” [8]

“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.” Romans 12:1 KJV
