#NotMyPresident, I'd Rather Die!

November 16, 2016

With the announcement of the United States'  president elect, Donald Trump, a shock wave has permeated to the very souls of men; even to the contemplation of suicide. This election has birthed the social media hashtags, #NotMyPresident and #ImStillWithHer, where a quick perusal will qualify the fears of many at various levels. " In the wee hours of November 9, when the US presidential race approached its stunning end, John Draper and those he works with saw a different surprising result.

The phone lines at the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline lit up in a way not seen before. " Draper, who has spent 25 years working in the suicide prevention and crisis field, says he's never seen anything like this. "They call and say it's the election," Draper said. "It's been ongoing since Tuesday night," he explained... young people are calling us who've never called us before. They're scared, and they don't know who to turn to. ..." [1]

On an average day, the Crisis Center's Text line sees about 1,000 texters. Post election, the numbers jumped to 4,000 and climbing. The base of these calls is rooted in fear, fear for one's life, fear for the future, fear of the unknown.

Fear/anxiety is a form of stress and the conditions related to this are:

  • Feelings of panic, fear, and uneasiness

  • Problems sleeping

  • Cold or sweaty hands or feet

  • Shortness of breath

  • Heart palpitations

  • Not being able to be still and calm

  • Dry mouth

  • Numbness or tingling in the hands or feet

  • Nausea

  • Muscle tension

  • Dizziness

"Studies have shown that severe or long-lasting stress can change the way nerve cells within these circuits transmit information from one region of the brain to another." [2] The head is the capitol of the body. If the finger is pricked, the nerves, like the telegraphic wires, bear the intelligence immediately to the brain. Satan triumphs in the ruinous work he causes by leading the human family to indulge in habits which destroy themselves, and one another; for by this means he is robbing God of the service due him. " {4aSG 146.1}  [3]

The minds is the only portal in which Christ can speak to us and this is why it is the most heavily attacked by the enemy, who uses a variety of situations leading to the same end- a body unfit for the rightful service due to God.

Fear is for those who have no hope. It is a true that this election has stricken a chord of prophetic reality and has lunged many into despair. However, does God not promise us that these times will come?(Matthew 10:9,17-20) Has God not told us that the servant is not greater than his master and that we will endure like situations as he did? (Matthew 10:24)  Has God not given us a promise for those who endure to the end? (Matthew 24:13)

"For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind." 2 Timothy 1:7

The Lord is on my side; I will not fear: what can man do unto me? Psalm 118:6

What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee. In God I will praise his word, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do unto me. Psalm 56:3-4

Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.”  Joshua 1:9

God has given us the end of the story,"Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city." Revelation 22:14

Let us go forth as those who have knowledge of truth, faith, hope and a promise!
