Chickweed is a weed that is commonly found in our backyards. We typically cut this in the process of our landscaping and in the beautification of our properties, but did you know this weed has health benefits.
Chickweed is used for the blood, liver, lungs, kidneys , and bladder.
This weed is common in treating blood toxicity, fevers, inflammation, nasal congestion, bronchitis, pleurisy, circulatory problems, bowel inflammation, colds, coughs, skin diseases and hoarseness. This herb is very safe, safe enough to use in salads or as a salad itself. Chickweed having diuretic and laxative properties, also helps in lowering blood lipids and reducing excess fat,
Externally, chickweed can be applied to warts, boils, and abscesses as a poultice. It can be used as an oil or ointment for sores and skin diseases. Chickweed can be used as tea, poultice, or ointment in a bath or as a salve.
